About Us

The Hub City Nitty Gritty is a blog that features news and views on all things related to Compton, Calif., often referred to as the “Hub City.”

The blog’s posts are authored by Allison Jean Eaton, a  well respected professional journalist based in Long Beach, Calif., who formerly served for nearly five years as the editor-in-chief of, and the main staff writer for, the Hub City’s main weekly newspaper, The Compton Bulletin.

While much of the content here at the Hub City Nitty Gritty will consist of news stories and features written in an objective manner that caters toward nothing but the truth, in certain cases posts will consist of opinionated news analysis and commentary that aim to shed light on the truth in an editorialized manner based on extensive fact-finding and research. Far less frequently featured will be the occasional humorous anecdote poking fun at that which is non-critical, random and/or just plain silly (everyone, even a journalist, is entitled to exercising his or her sense of humor now and again).

The Nitty Gritty exists as a free public service, and no profits or income of any kind is generated by its posts for its creator.

BTW – This (HCNG) looks like a very well designed site. I hope it continues to grow.

  5. Brian,

Thanks! To be honest, the design is all in the template I’m using, so I can’t take much credit for that. But consider it done–the website has been added to the Blogroll list.

I’ll be in contact soon regarding the post I’m working on regarding the decreased murder rate this year. Thanks again for your support!

  6. Go Allison!

  7. This is interesting…glad someone is doing something about social justice!
